News2010 Voices of Recovery LuncheonThe 2010 Voices of Recovery Luncheon was held on September 22, 2010 at the Westin Buckhead and gathered over 320 individuals and raised almost $90,000 to support the important work of St. Jude's Recovery Center. This year's Voice of Recovery was legendary folk singer, Ms. Judy Collins. Judy Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. Few artists have the staying power as music icon, Judy Collins. She is celebrating her 50th year of recording with 37 albums, top ten hits, Grammy wins and gold and platinum status. It is certainly no wonder that this artist was the muse for the classic rock song, "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes." An innately creative individual, Collins is also known for her songs, books, and watercolors. She wrote the bestseller Sanity and Grace which focuses on suicide recovery, and is based on her own experience with the tragic loss of her son's life, sharing her dark time with grace. Judy Collins graced the crowd with her angelic voice and sang many of her greatest hits while telling her story of substance abuse and the loss of her son. St. Jude's honored CoreNet Global Atlanta Chapter for their donations and volunteer work from 2007-2010. CoreNet has been responsible for over $123,000 in donations and volunteer projects at several of St. Jude's properties. Projects included landscaping, purchasing new furniture, replacing carpet, painting artwork, purchasing linens and doing much needed renovations to St. Jude's facilities. With valuable partners such as CoreNet Global, St. Jude's is able to continue providing quality care for our consumers. Special thanks to the emcee of the event, Brenda Wood of 11 Alive's WXIA who shared her personal connection with substance abuse, and to Reverend Dr. Barbara L. King who led the Invocation.
